Local artist Reina Okawa is known for her colorful, layered mixed media artworks and playful site-specific installations, including the paper cranes in the lobby of the Washington Pavilion. Okawa received her MFA in Printmaking from the University of South Dakota and continues to work in printmaking and paper arts. Her two-dimensional mixed media artworks draw from patterns found in nature. Okawa’s recent exhibitions include group shows at Ipso Gallery and Exposure Gallery, both in downtown Sioux Falls.
Join us as we host Reina Okawa, the artist behind the famous origami cranes in the lobby of the Washington Pavilion. Learn more about origami and create your own piece to contribute to an installation in our Everist Gallery, open May 1 - June 11, 2017.
