If you invest $100 in a certificate of deposit or CD at the bank at 1% interest, how much will it buy in one year? If the inflation rate was 3%, that means your investment lost 2%. In one year your $100 investment will only have the buying power of $98.
But did you know that Investment Real Estate has a built in inflation hedge? It’s called appreciation. As money becomes devalued, rental property values adjust to compensate. But it get’s better. Depending upon how the investment property is financed, inflation can actually boost the value of your investment at several times the rate of inflation.
