Downtown Gives campaign raises $5,900 for the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House

Downtown Sioux Falls, Inc. (DTSF) and several participating businesses presented a check for just over $5,900 to this year’s Downtown Gives beneficiary, Bishop Dudley Hospitality House (BDHH).
DTSF's annual charity program raises funds over the holiday season by selling $15 coupon books in participating downtown retailer locations. The program's efforts exceeded last year's record amount raised with some help from The First National Bank in Sioux Falls, who purchased 270 coupon books as holiday gifts for staff.
"Considering it was a tough holiday season for our retailers due to the building collapse tragedy and a bitter cold snap in early December, The First National Bank's efforts were especially significant," said Brienne Maner, DTSF Vice President. "Their commitment to community is outstanding, and should be celebrated."
Funds raised will go toward purchasing educational materials for the family room at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House, which offers daytime and emergency shelter for the homeless and vulnerable.
"We are grateful for the tremendous support we have received from the downtown Sioux Falls community and being the beneficiary of the Downtown Gives campaign is so encouraging to our staff, volunteers, board of directors and most importantly, our guests," said BDHH executive director Chad Campbell. "These funds will help provide shelter for those individuals and families with no alternatives in our community, and will also help further our commitment in purchasing educational materials to enrich the lives of the children we serve on a daily basis."

A call for 2017 Downtown Gives beneficiary applications will be sent in May. The 2017 kick-off for coupon book sales is set for First Friday, November 3.
