SUMMARY:Sevendust
DESCRIPTION:Sevendust has always carved their own path with a unique blend of heavy grooves\, unpredictable riffs\, and soulful vocals. Since forming in 1994\, they’ve sold over 7 million albums\, earned three gold certifications\, charted three Top 15 Billboard 200 debuts\, and received a GRAMMY® nomination. With a reputation for electrifying live performances\, they’ve played iconic festivals like Woodstock\, OZZfest\, Shiprocked\, and Sonic Temple. \nAfter their highly praised 2020 album Blood & Stone\, Sevendust returns with their fourteenth album\, Truth Killer\, their debut for Napalm Records. The band – Lajon Witherspoon (vocals)\, Clint Lowery (lead guitar)\, John Connolly (rhythm guitar)\, Vince Hornsby (bass)\, and Morgan Rose (drums) focused on reconnecting as friends during the writing process\, which led to fresh creativity. Recorded with producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette\, the album features a mix of heavy and melodic sounds\, as well as new electronic elements. \nThe album opens with “I Might Let The Devil Win\,” a slow-burning track that marks a departure from their usual sound\, while the closing song\, “Fence\,” brings the intensity Sevendust fans expect. Other standout tracks include “Truth Killer\,” which critiques society’s aversion to the truth\, and “Superficial Drug\,” a commentary on the emptiness of social media culture. With Truth Killer\, Sevendust proves they’re still taking risks and pushing boundaries\, reaffirming their place in rock history. \nDoors open at 7 PM for the 8 PM show. \nTickets are $50\, $55\, $65\, $75 plus tax and an online/phone ticketing fee (this fee is waived when tickets are purchased in the Gift Shop). Tickets in the ADA section are for patrons with mobility disabilities and up to three companions. If companion seating is not available because the ADA section is sold out\, GFC will offer other seats as close as possible to the accessible seat\, if available\, at the purchase price of the other section. Tickets can be purchased in the Gift Shop or online. \nThis ticket may only be purchased directly through our website or the box office located at our property. We do not use third-party resellers or brokers for ticket sales. Tickets purchased through third-party resellers or brokers are not valid for entry. SUMMARY:Michael Mullin Presents: Pettigrew in Paradise-His Fight Against Hawaiian Annexation
DESCRIPTION:Senator Richard F. Pettigrew was the only Republican senator to vote against the annexation of Hawaii between 1893 and 1898. This opposition placed Pettigrew at odds with his political party\, and it became more pronounced after Pettigrew visited the islands. The work Pettigrew did on behalf of the islands did not go unnoticed; Queen Lili’uokalani met with the Senator when she visited Washington in 1898. During that visit she gave him a walking stick that is now displayed in the Pettigrew home. This presentation looks at why Senator Pettigrew was such an ardent “anti-imperialist”\, and how that influenced his activities on behalf of the Hawaiian people.\nAugustana University history professor Michael Mullin will present his program at the Old Courthouse Museum on Sunday\, April 12th at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
