For the second year in a row, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire (BGCSE) Sioux Falls Winter Carnival event was selected for the Downtown Winter Event Grant, a program designed to encourage activity downtown during the winter months and foster a sense of community.
With the help of the BID & DTSF, BGCSE will be reimbursed up to $5,000 of event expenses and receive promotional support from the DTSF organization.
“We are proud to be chosen for the 2020 DTSF grant and plan to use our expansive committees to create events and opportunities for as many people as possible during our nine days of events. We appreciate the many partners who are willing to come by our side again this year to create opportunities to bring us out of our winter hibernation. We are hoping that Sioux Falls Winter Carnival creates a spirit of embracing the season,” says Amy Sumner, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire Director of Philanthropy.
The submitted Sioux Falls Winter Carnival is a week-long event concept that will span the downtown area with numerous activities, such as: a Pop-up ice skating rink, amateur snow sculpture contest, Winter Jam Block Party benefit concert, Frost: A Diamond Gala, a craft Brewfest, and more.
The BSCGE will meet with the Downtown Winter Event Grant committee to talk through next steps. Official event plans will be announced later this year.
