Levi Kessler Presents: History Below the Pines

November 20 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Historian, explorer, and documentarian Levi Kessler invites you to look beneath the surface of the iconic Black Hills, where towering pines guard the forgotten secrets of South Dakota’s past. This is not the history you read about in public brochures; this is the vanishing legacy of the Black Hills earliest boom-and-bust days. Admission is free!
A native of Aberdeen and a resident of Spearfish, Levi and a group of friends have dedicated themselves to the meticulous, and often difficult, task of preserving local history that exists entirely on private land in the Black Hills. Through their work, they have documented a vast array of sites, ranging from abandoned gold, silver, and tin mines deep in the earth, to the forgotten foundations of logging camps, defunct tourist attractions, and ghost towns that existed for only a brief, intense period.
