Downtown Sioux Falls has been buzzing with energy all season long thanks to the incredible success of Open Streets 2026. From May through August, thousands of locals and visitors from across the region have gathered on First Fridays to celebrate community, creativity, and connection in the heart of downtown.
Each event brought its own unique flavor while showcasing everything that makes Downtown Sioux Falls a destination worth exploring.
The season kicked off with the beloved May Art & Wine Walk, where guests enjoyed live art demonstrations, sampled wines, discovered local artists, and experienced the vibrant creative spirit that helps define our downtown. June brought out the competitor in everyone with Mini Golf Open Streets, featuring a custom-designed mini golf course that transformed downtown streets into a playful and memorable experience for all ages.
July’s celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary filled downtown with patriotic pride, family-friendly activities, great food, and live music that brought the community together in a festive and meaningful way. Throughout the season, visitors enjoyed performances from talented musicians, explored creative vendors, sampled delicious food from local restaurants, and discovered something new around every corner.
And the fun isn’t over yet.
The upcoming August Wags & Wine Open Streets on Friday, August 7th, promises a tail-wagging good time with dog-friendly activities, treats, shopping, and plenty of opportunities for pet lovers to enjoy downtown alongside their four-legged companions. It’s the perfect way to wrap up another successful Open Streets season.
What has made Open Streets so special is the people. Visitors traveled from communities throughout the region, while Sioux Falls residents from every corner of the city came downtown to create a joyful, welcoming atmosphere that turned each First Friday into a celebration. Together, they’ve helped make Spring and Summer 2026 one of the most vibrant Open Streets seasons yet.
As we look ahead, the excitement continues with the upcoming Cherapa Street Dance, presented in collaboration with DTSF. This can’t-miss downtown tradition will keep the momentum going with live entertainment, great food and drinks, and another opportunity to gather with friends, neighbors, and visitors in the heart of Sioux Falls.
