Prepare your tastbuds for battle! The 7th Annual Downtown Burger Battle presented by the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation kicks off January 2, 2020 and will continue through the month of January. Participating restaurants will exemplify the breadth and variety of downtown dining by showcasing the classic American burger. Come downtown to enjoy a burger, then rate it to see who the restaurant winner will be at the end of that month.
Customers will assign up to five points in each of five categories for every featured burger they try. The burger with the highest average points at the conclusion of the battle will be declared the winner! The restaurants won’t be the only ones winning prizes during the 7th Annual Downtown Burger Battle. Blarney Stone Pub – Sioux Falls: Fuisce (Fwishkah) Burger
An 8 oz. Certified Angus Beef Patty served upon Mixed Greens, topped with Smoked Cheddar, Blue Cheese crumbles, Bacon, Guinness Caramelized Onions and an Irish Whiskey Glaze. Served on a toasted Wheat Bun with a pickle and your choice of one side.
Bread & Circus Sandwich Kitchen: B&C Raclette Burger
Certified Angus Beef Patty, Raclette Cheese, Black Garlic Bacon, Bread & Butter Onions, Lettuce, Aioli. All on a custom bun made locally by Breadsmith using spent grain from Severance Brewing.
Falls Landing Bar & Grill: The Armada Burger
Half-pound burger topped with sweet pepper chutney, firecracker bacon, Munster cheese, homemade mustard, shredded lettuce, tomato, and pickles on a cracked pepper Parmesan bun.
Fernson Downtown: Flamengo Burger
Half beef and ground chorizo burger. This burger is bursting with the rich, salty and fresh flavors of Latin America : Chorizo, onion, creamy Cambozola cheese, olives, tomatoes, roasted peppers tapenade, house made pickles, pickled jalapeños and a salsa Rosada sauce.
Holiday Inn Sioux Falls-City Centre: The Diablo Burger
Half pound certified angus burger layered with house made reaper creeper BBQ sauce and habanero cheese then finished with thick cut jalapeño cured bacon.
JL Beers Sioux Falls: Wham! Bam! Bacon Jam Burger
This burger comes with housemade bacon jam, cheddar cheese, lettuce, pickles, and mayo.
MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub: The Chorizo Burger
A beef and pork chorizo patty placed on a brioche bun with house made Romesco sauce, then topped with seared Serrano ham, authentic Manchego cheese, an over easy fried egg and cilantro lime sour cream served with a side of tajin seasoned potato bites.
M.B. Haskett Delicatessen: Truffle and Trumpet Burger
A 5 oz. burger on house made onion brioche with Gouda cheese, black truffle and local Trumpet mushrooms.
Ode To Food and Drinks: Sweet Jamaican Burger
A 7 oz. house ground beef made of top sirloin & brisket, rum BBQ sauce, Swiss cheese, pineapple habanero salsa, jerk bacon on a jalapeño cheddar bun.

A waygu patty served with house made green chili bacon, harvati, fresno jelly and a jalapeño popper all on a brioche bun.

Chuck and beef brisket blend stuffed with smoked Gouda cheese, topped with smoked pork Etouffee, Tasso spiced bacon, caramelized onions and lettuce, tomato, Cajun bacon on a buttered toasted brioche bun served with our signature Cajun fries.
The Market: SoDakGrown Burger
A sirloin & brisket burger sits on our baconaisse, topped with white cheddar, coffee braised onions and a fried farm fresh egg, all tucked into a hemp bun with cheese popcorn.
The Treasury: The Frenchie
The Treasury at Hotel on Phillips Chef Matthew Regnier’s French heritage was the inspiration for the 2020 Burger Battle burger. They call it The Frenchie! A half-pound of beautifully-balanced all-beef patty is slathered in the most glorious Tomme Crayeuse French cheese along with our house-made and over-the-top bone-marrow aioli. It’s then topped with Champagne-braised onions, frisée and red wine vinegar pickled radishes. A fleur-de-sel dusted Breadsmith bun holds this chef d’oeuvre on a pedestal. Served with a side of freshly cut ribbon chips. À votre santé!
Tommy Jack’s Pub: The Censored Burger
A one-third pound fresh hand patties hemp infused burger, topped with bacon, egg, pepper jack cheese, sautéed onions and peppers, drizzled with house-made hemp infused aioli on a locally baked bun.
Wileys: The South Dakotan
A half-pound Certified Black Angus all beef burger, seasoned with our own South Dakotan Dry Rub with house made bacon jam, topped with thick slab smoked maple bourbon bacon, Stensland Family Farm white cheddar cheese curds, and covered in a gooey American cheese sauce, held together by a delicious artisan egg bun.
