Mike Cooper Presents: If Our Trees Could Talk-Discovering the Urban Forest of Sioux Falls at the Old Courthouse Museum

August 18 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

The urban forest of Sioux Falls is truly a living, breathing postcard that gets more breathtaking every year. The book If Our Trees Could Talk by horticulturist Paul De Jong captures its beauty and shares its history in hopes that all who live here or visit our community can more fully appreciate the towering scenery that makes this place so special.
Throughout the early decades of growth in Sioux Falls, trees became an important landscape feature for both shade and aesthetic appearance. Since most of the early settlers came from regions of Europe or eastern states where trees and forested areas were common, they recognized the unique value of adding trees to the prairie landscape.
If Our Trees Could Talk will be presented at the Old Courthouse Museum by Mike Cooper, Executive Director of the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum. Books will be for sale after the program. Proceeds go to the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum.
