An Advent Festival of Lessons & Music

Overview

Free performance by the Dakota String Quartet, the Calvary Cathedral Choir (directed by Dr. Monty Barnard and featuring tenor Eric Wassenaar) and organist Dr. Jonathan Neiderhiser. Music of the season is interspersed with Bible readings that tell the story of the fall of humanity and the promise of the Messiah. Based on the service held in England since 1880 and made famous by King’s College, Cambridge, which has broadcast the service worldwide on Christmas Eve since 1928. Reception follows in the church commons.
An Advent Festival of Lessons & Music is held in the beautiful Calvary Episcopal Cathedral at 500 South Main Avenue (14th & Main), built in 1891.

Free-will offering benefits the Dr. Monty J. Barnard Music Endowment. Dr. Barnard joined the choir in 1974 and has been our music director and choir conductor since 1987. Handicapped accessible.
