The provisions of the Accounting Standards Update 2016-02, Leases, in February of 2016 and the subsequent amendments from the Financial Accounting Standards Board are coming into effect soon.

The effective date for nonpublic entities is calendar year 2022.

These standards provide significant changes for lease accounting that can be complicated when determining lease terms, lease payments, and discount rates.
